Fraction sandwiches

In Maths, we are learning about fractions.

First step was to make our own jam sandwich:

Then we had to cut our sandwich in half:

Next, we cut our sandwich into quarters (or fourths)

If they wanted to, the children were allowed to eat their sandwich 1/4 at a time.
The whole time we were reinforcing those key math words: quarter/fourth, half and whole.

Te Manawa library visit

Room 3 and 4 went on an adventure this afternoon, we went on a bus to Te Manawa (the new library at Westgate)

The children enjoyed listening to the librarians and having the time to explore the library.
It was also super exciting to be on the bus as we drove past McDonalds and PaknSave ☺

The librarians told us about the different kinds of books and puzzles we can borrow from the library and how we can get our very own library card.

A big thanks to the parents who came along to help us.

Making patterns

In Maths, we are learning to describe, create and continue a pattern.

The children have enjoyed creating patterns with different equipment.
